Genesee Early College is not the only high school outreach program in place at UM-Flint. On March 28, students of Whittier Classical Academy of Flint enjoyed an academic visit from UM-Flint students enrolled in education courses. This was not a student teaching experience, but rather an observation opportunity to benefit both schools.

Satire: 1. the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc. 2. a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule. As an unabashed fan of satire, I must object to your definition of Paul Gerke's weekly articles as anything remotely resembling satire.

In this, the last issue of the semester, there are certainly a lot of things to talk about. Your Michigan Times again broke the 1,000-hit mark on its Web site after Sports Illustrated linked to Managing Editor John McKay's football ticket story. Although we didn't break the story, it was also noteworthy that The Michigan Times was one of the first on the scene when a body was discovered in the Flint River on campus April 11.

As the school year draws to a close, it's good to look back every once in a while to reminisce. What have we learned for the $7,000 or more we paid in tuition over the last eight months? Academics aside, we here at The Michigan Times have learned a lot. It's been an up-and-down year for your Student Voice, but we've had the pleasure of breaking several stories that we hope you would consider important.

Last month the club was in danger of dissolution due to a lack of student interest, until a plan was outlined in a March 18 meeting between university faculty and staff members and club president Larry Launstein, a senior at UM-Flint.

<br />
At the UM-Flint Open Forum earlier this semester, Interim Chancellor Jack Kay responded to the question of varsity sports on campus by stating that a Blue Ribbon Committee would be formed to look into the plausibility of it happening.
