Upon advisory of my trusty weather balloon, what gods still listen, and the benevolent editors, I have chosen to begin writing about whatever meaning I can scrape of off this backburner of a city. So let's cut the crap and get started.
Theocracies suck. More than any other type of government, theocracies suck. Kings can be disposed, Dictators overthrown, but the gods can never be wrong. If you hold your seat by grace of the gods there is no room for disagreement, but of course all of us know that. Why does it matter?
America, you are building a theocracy and I hate you for it. Don't believe me? Look at the last two elections; look at prop two. Can you recall a politician who wasn't overtly Christian? If you happen to be one of those folks who aren't a hard and fast Christians, then I give my sympathy, because things are spiraling downhill very swiftly.
Let's take a supposition: You believe there is a god, and his law is that someone who is homosexual will suffer in hell forever. What law can you pass that will be more severe than God's law? Don't you think you are insulting your god? "Gee, God, you just aren't big or scary enough."
Oh, and while we are on the topic of legislating by religion, don't forget that Leviticus tells us that anything a woman touches during her period is unclean (Lev.15) and you are to make no metal representations of a god (Lev.19). Oh yeah, and that cotton/polyester blend you are wearing is sinful too … you will not wear a garment made from two kinds of fabric (Lev.19:19).
But who am I to judge? We deists are a dying breed, after all. On that note, I believe I can feel the cold breathe of Charles Darwin on my neck, so good luck and god speed.
