I was involved in so many different things on campus. Out of all of the things I participated in, I am most proud of my membership in a sorority. I have a lot of sorority “stuff” under my belt. I was a part of the judicial process when Beta Sigma Phi was a being brought up on hazing charges. I was honored because I loved my campus experience and I truly want every woman that decides to join a sorority to have the positive experience I had. I hardly consider myself hodge-podge. I also care about what influences young women have these days. Please do not believe that only scrapbooking got these women in trouble for hazing. I think that blindfolding a person, willing or not, driving them around in a vehicle to a hotel and then up the back stairs of that hotel, seems worthy of hazing charges. Please review the definition of “hazing” as my words here are limited. These women and the charges were reviewed by a jury of their peers. Please review SGC policies about Greeks. Part of being in college and being in a sorority or any other organization, is so that you can gain insight and experience into the “real world.” You will learn how to deal with difficult people, organization, team-work, fiscal responsibility, caring for others and your community, not to mention there are consequences for your actions, whether they are positive or negative. The list can go on, but I have only 300 words. I sure hope that you didn’t turn people away from being involved on campus. Imagine what things they will not get to experience because of the ridiculous jargon you wrote. We are sorority women and we need to set a positive example. There are already enough negative stereotypes about us. Thanks for helping in that area. My bottom line here is simple: you got busted and you are ticked off. We are human, we make mistakes. Did I mention I am the adviser for the other international sorority on UM-Flint campus?
